Getting started

What is Reiki

Reiki is an ancient Japanese discipline founded by Master Mikao Usui, based on the transmission of universal life energy through the laying on of hands.
More than a technique, Reiki is a path of listening and transformation that invites you to slow down, find presence again and develop a more conscious relationship with yourself.

At Riminiscenze Olistiche, Reiki is offered as a path that brings together experience, practice and personal growth. If you wish, it can become a professional path.
Every treatment, seminar or moment of sharing is part of a journey made of presence, listening and awareness, valuing daily practice as a tool for personal growth and for relating to others.

Frequently asked questions

The questions we're asked most often

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese discipline of energetic rebalancing developed by Master Mikao Usui at the beginning of the twentieth century. The practice is based on the use of Universal Life Energy through the laying on of hands, with the aim of encouraging relaxation, harmony and greater self-awareness. Reiki can be experienced both as a treatment and as a path of personal growth through daily practice.

Is Reiki a religion?

No. Reiki is not a religion and does not require you to adhere to any particular belief. It is a discipline open to everyone, whatever their personal, cultural or spiritual path.

Is Reiki a therapy?

Reiki does not replace medical or psychological care and is not offered as a therapy. It is a practice of wellbeing and personal growth that can accompany you, encouraging relaxation, inner listening and harmony.

What happens during a Reiki treatment?

During a Reiki treatment you lie comfortably, fully clothed, while the practitioner gently places their hands in specific positions on or near the body, following the Usui Reiki Method. The session takes place in a quiet setting and encourages a state of relaxation and deep listening.

What do you feel during a Reiki treatment?

Every experience is personal and can differ from one person to another. Some people feel deep relaxation, warmth, lightness or greater calm; others simply experience a moment of pause and of listening to themselves.

How long does a Reiki treatment last?

The length can vary depending on the type of treatment chosen. A full treatment can last about an hour and a half, while other treatments may last longer or shorter depending on the person's needs.

How many Reiki treatments are needed?

There is no single number that suits everyone. Some people choose an occasional treatment as a moment of wellbeing and relaxation; others prefer to embark on a series of sessions to deepen the practice and their listening to themselves.

Can anyone learn Reiki?

Yes. Reiki can be learned by anyone who wishes to approach this discipline. Through the First, Second, Third and Fourth Level seminars you gradually learn the Usui Reiki Method, combining theory, practice and Attunement Ceremonies.

Do I need experience in holistic disciplines to attend a Reiki course?

No. Reiki First Level is open to everyone and requires no previous knowledge or experience. It is suitable both for those approaching the holistic world for the first time and for those who wish to add a new practice to their personal path.

What is the difference between Reiki First and Second Level?

The First Level introduces the practice of Reiki, self-treatment and basic treatments. The Second Level deepens the path through the study of the Reiki Symbols and introduces practices such as the Mental Treatment, the Distance Treatment and Space Harmonisation.

Can I practise Reiki on others after the First Level?

Yes. After the First Level you learn the basics for practising Reiki on yourself and on others in a personal setting. Those who wish to take the practice further professionally can continue their training through the following levels.

What is the difference between Reiki and massage?

Reiki is not a massage: it involves no manipulation of the body. It is an energy practice that uses the touch of the hands, or their position near the body, to encourage relaxation and rebalancing.
